M 46 DF

Caterpillar Motoren designed the M 46 DF for a variety of marine applications without sacrificing the typical MaK marine engine features like class leading operational reliability, efficiency, loading capacity as well as operational simplicity. Capable to operate on multiple fuels (LNG/MDO/HFO) the M 46 DF is designed to meet stringent conditions of upcoming emission- and fuel sulphur regulation, providing maximum vessel operation flexibility for regulated and/or lesser regulated areas, without significant changes to engine room or the exhaust gas system, maintaining installation and certification simplicity at the same time. A low emission footprint, paired with high efficiency, fast service access, service and maintenance simplicity and the inherently safe gas system design make the M 46 DF an excellent propulsion engine for vessels with single- and multiple main engine arrangements guaranteeing the operational reliability required for ship safety. The M 46 DF is ideal for operation in- and outside of environmental protected areas as well as water with HFO limitations, and well prepared for operation in IMO III regulated areas.
